Heat- Each individual race within an event is called a heat. In some
meets, swimmers will be ranked against only their heat, but in other
meets, they will be ranked against all competitors from all heats of that event.
Heat Sheet- A list that is often sold at meets of all levels that includes the order of events, as well as heat and lane assignments for each event, and usually (but not always) entry times.
