Long Course- A swimming pool of a length of 50 meters is referred to as a “long course” or a “long course pool.” This term is used to describe a 50 meter pool both inside and outside the United States, as a 50 yard course is very, very rare. See also

Long Course Meters- When swimming pools are set at a distance of 50 meters per length, the races are referred to as “long course meters.” This is the course that is used in the Olympics. In USA-Swimming (club swimming), long course meter pools are typically used in competition in the summer season.
