UN- Heat sheet designation for an
unattached swimmer.
Unattached- Used as the team name for a swimmer not affiliated with a specific team in a meet. Often, this is because of a USA-S rule that does not allow swimmers to swim attached to a team for 120 days after a transfer. Often designated on a heat sheet by
"UN" or "UN-__"
Under/Overs- A training technique where swimmers swim 25 yards under the water in a streamline kick, followed immediately by 25 yards on top of the water sprinting. Used to work on sprinting even without a full level of oxygen; more closely simulates race conditions than a simple no-breather or sprint.
Underwater Pullout- This is a term given to the special underwater stroke used to replace the streamline in the breaststroke. It consists of a single pull all the way to your hips accompanied by a
Dolphin Kick, and then a single breaststroke kick and recovery simultaneously. It's important that the head breaks the surface during the first stroke immediately following the underwater pullout. See video below.
